hmmm....tough, one. I'm going to have to say Ju-on The Grudge.
1. The imagery. She was scarry. Perhaps we are a little desensitized to the long hair ghost chick now, but back then, that image stayed in my mind long after the movie was over.
2. The execution. Alot of people criticized this movie for being messy with the plot and not making sense, but i'd have to disagree. All that time jumping stuff add to the abstract charm of the movie. The movie was about the unnatural(as well as supernatural)!! It wasn't suppose to make sense. To me the film was an exercise in 'Chaos'.
3. Actors. I thought for what little script they have, the actors put alot of human quality into their characters. I found myself sympathizing instead of agonizing, like i do with most hollywood horror. |

| I'm going to say Audition, although it's very hard to choose, okay most people who havn't even seen it know the twist due to notoriety, but watched as intended without prior Knowledge of the latter stages, this is a masterful piece of work. While some say the movie is too slow I think the pacing was perfectly executed, the meandering of the first half perfectly sets up and really amplifies the truly disturbing finale.Miike creates a deeply unsettling mood throughout that becomes more and more pronounced as the story line begins to turn in a surprisingly sinister direction.Ryo Ishibashi and Eihi Shiina were exceptional however it's Shiina who really shone for me,the way she calmly carried out her true intentions was chilling(Kiri, kiri, kiri, kiri!) *shudder*.Meloncholy, brutal, powerful, shocking, disturbing incredible! |

I didn't think it was slow at all. Like you said earlier, it was crucial to build that momentum of the first half; and I thought it was done so well...i almost forgot it was a horror flick, lol!!
Shiina was amazing. Not just that sadistic ending, but they way she played on the sweet vulnerability of the first half. Awesome! |

Audition is disturbing. The end.
No, but seriously, it's one of the few films that I'm honestly unnerved by. That woman was...uh...yeah. I think I'll have to go with Ju-On, though. But only because it was the first I saw, so it has a special spot in my heart. |

Really? I don't think it needs to be remade. I think it's fine the way it is. :) |

Well i dont think many movies need to be remade simply because of cultural differences. If the audience cant applicate it the way it originally was then they dont need to be watching it in the first place.
But as i said before i didnt think this movie was that great and personally i dont have any concern for it. but i am VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY pissed off that hollywood is remaking Oldboy. |

You could do what I do and completely convince yourself it's not happening and live in ignorant bliss. I heard a while ago that they were thinking of casting Jessica Alba in The Eye remake and I went into "Lalala not listening" mode. This could only get worse if Jessica Simpson somehow got a part in A Tale of Two Sisters. (Also, I still need to watch Oldboy. I'm such a failure.) |

Aye you do!!!
But the way you feel of those movies is probably how i feel when i hear them talk about the Oldboy remake and Oh Dae-Su will now be played by
Nicolas Cage.
***EDIT***
As sexy as Alba is, she holds nothing to how attractive Angelica Lee is. |

I don't think there's an American title. I haven't heard of it if there was. I have Eko Eko Azarak: The Complete Collection. It consists of three DVDs. The first one is called Wizard of Darkness. The second one is called Birth of a Wizard. The third one is called Misa the Dark Angel. |
