Synopsis: Reiko makes her way into an abandoned high school. Opening the door to a classroom, she finds Kenichi sitting at a desk. The two have returned here, after receiving invitations from the Alumni Association for their class reunion. But, why is it being held in an abandoned school, and on top of that, why do only Reiko and Kenichi show up? They start to talk about Tomie.
It all started 12 years earlier, after Tomie transfers into Third Year Class C. With beauty that can set hearts on fire, and cold eyes that can freeze in an instant, this new student makes the class gasp. Class C had been peaceful and normal until then, but her presence causes a subtle shift in balance to occur. Male students seem possessed and become abnormally captivated by Tomie.
Only Reiko is willing to be Tomie's friend. Even though she knows the class dislikes Tomie, Reiko finds her fascinating.
Three male students, driven insane by Tomie's evil, try to revolt against her. While brandishing their weapons above her, they sever her right ear. The ear scurries through the grass as if it were a creature that had sprung legs. When Reiko removes the bandage from Tomie's head, her ear has regenerated as if it was never harmed. Reiko realizes that Tomie is not human.
Even the teacher, Takagi, is driven crazy by Tomie. Kenichi, the only one who seemed immune to Tomie's evil, gradually becomes completely deranged as if a virus is spreading through him. Kenichi accidentally pushes Tomie over a cliff. Instructor Takagi makes the frightening proposal that the students should dismember Tomie's lifeless body, dividing her up, with one part going to each member of the class for disposal. One student disposes of part of her chopped-up body in the garbage, another student throws part in a river, and yet another student incinerates part of her in a furnace.
The next day, Tomie returns to class as if nothing had happened. She tells the students:''he interesting part is just beginning. I'll show you what Hell is really like.''
As Rieko and Kenichi finish recounting their memories of Tomie, Kenichi is seized by the urge to see her again. He begs Rieko, her trusted friend, to tell him where she is and then hears the sound of a heart 'Tomie's heart' beating in a plastic grocery bag Reiko brought with her... |
