| Excellent, I will. BTW, should I watch The Eye first or will it not matter? I wouldn't want to watch this one first and have it ruin any plot twists or anything from the original. |

ehh i dont think it would ruin the plot twists or anything but you have time to watch the first one before the second.
Dunno why you havent seen the first one yet anyway! |

No, the story line between the first and second installment has no relation, so it shouldn't matter much....but DUDE....you haven't seen The Eye??!!! Watch it....WATCH IT NOW, LOL!!! |

Hmm... I guess I know what I'm watching tonight then! To be perfectly honest, I never heard of The Eye until I found this site last week. |

***SPOILER WARNING***
Ok, so I watched The Eye last night and tonight I watched our MotW: The Eye 2. I was really ready for disappointment after seeing the first film, because it was nearly a masterpiece in it's own right and I never trust a sequel going into it. This movie surprised me though!
I personally thought this film was pretty damn good. The Eye was excellent, but TE2 is damn good. The ghost scenes were generally not as scary to me as in the first, but there were a couple really good ones nonetheless. Particularly for me were the scene at the restaurant (good jump scare) and the second scene in a cab with the woman missing her face.
There were also some very disturbing scenes in this film. The ones that really got me were the stillbirth scene in the elevator and the scene with the boy and his mother (?) that jumped off a roof. The way they kept talking while lying there all smashed up on the ground was freaky and will probably disturb me for some time to come. As for the stillbirth, I recently became a father and it distresses me to see a child (especially babies) in danger. Watching one die was almost too much... even if it is just fiction. (on a sidenote, I watched Children of Men in the theatre with my wife who was then 8 months pregnant... talk about intensity)
The sequence when Joey is in the hospital and decides she has to take her own life (again) was cool, if a bit comical almost. I was surprised when she jumped off the fourth story or whatever and landed there on the pavement! Somehow I knew she'd get up though. Watching her drag herself back up the stairs I almost had to laugh... a) because I knew she would drag herself up higher this time and jump again, and b) because I had to wonder where the hospital staff were hiding during all this. This is the first of these Asian films I've seen though where the ghost speaks directly to the person it's haunting, I believe. It was cool, but kinda made me wonder why she didn't just talk to your woman in the first place.
The plot to this film was really just as good as the first in my opinion. In a way, I think I liked this story even better. The execution in the first was still superior though, and Angelica Lee is definitely better to look at than Qi Shu in my opinion... not that that has anything to do with rating a film really.
I would definitely recommend this movie to another horror fan, or more specifically a ghost-movie fan.
So gang, what are your thoughts?
I'm so excited for next week now... lol!
Cheers,
- Ian |

I loved The Eye 2,like I have said before it works so well as a sequel becauase it's not really a sequel at all, more a continuation of the Pang's exploration of a spiritual world that that is all around us but we cannot see.
The heart of the movie(and soul LOL) is Shu Qi's powerful performance, much like Anjelica Lee in the Pang's Re Cycle Shu Qi is on screen for almost the entire running time of the movie with few supporting characters and as such her portrayal of Joey must be perfect and it was.Shu Qi's really does deliver a suprisingly subtle, touching and believable turn as she draws you into Joey's turbulent emotional journey.
The Pang's sense of style and talent for delivering unforgettable images is again evident, like ijonchrist has already mentioned who can forget the the mother and son who suddenly slam into the groung just yards from Joey and begin to talk even though they are flattened to the tarmac, the elevator scene(again with the elevators!),Joey's repeated attempts to kill herself by throwing herself off the hospital,a heart breaking scene but strangely humourous at the same time(This was me QUOTE  Holy Shit! She's going to do it AGAIN!! ).
I was present at the birth of my Daughter which was both the most terrifying and beautiful experience of my life and as such some of the scenes in The Eye 2 really resonate with me,and I am so very glad I didn't see the Movie first!! |
