R-Point (2004)
Director: Su-chang Kong
Synopsis : 'R-Point' - refers to a once strategically important region in an island 150 km south of Ho Chi Minh city. French soldiers were fascinated by the beauty of the island, upon which a leisure facility and a military hospital were built, but the area has a secret past, a haunting curse untold for 30 years. the first Vietnamese War -1949- 12 French soldiers who were in battle with communist guerillas went mysteriously missing. A total of 650 people have been reported missing there without any explanation. Then the second Vietnamese War -1972- 9 Korean soldiers went missing in the area. There are accounts of unexplainable radio transmissions sent by the group for 6 months requesting to be rescued. Are these freak occurrences real or not? The fact is that a gravestone which says 'No return' still stands, marking the entrance of the area. In addition to this day, there are reported sightings by local people of the girl who was slaughtered mercilessly a long time ago. Now, the Korean troops must face this unspeakable horror.

Wow.. I love this movie!!!
Not so much of a scare but it definitely creeps me out!!! specially about the scene wherein 1 soldier is lost and then he thought that he found the others already..but it end up that all the soldiers that he saw are GHOSTS!!! Excellent plot... very entertaining...different from other horror films (except the 'hallucination' idea)... WATCH IT WATCH IT WATCH IT!!! |

| I waited for the longest time to buy this movie. Every time i hit up a movie store it would be staring me in the eye screaming "buy me you asshole, now!!". But for some reason i waited and waited. I finally picked it up when it was on sale for 8 bucks and i loved every second of the movie. While it is a great "creepy" movie what this movie really did for me was draw me into asian military movies and just like asian horror, i couldent stop buying any of the movies i found. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys military or horror movies. |

| Okay,so I just watched R-Point and I really enjoyed it,what a well made supernatural thriller!I thought the storyline was really engaging and kept me intrigued throughout, and while not jump out of your seat scary it was very atmospheric and very creepy.I loved the settings, all were beautifully shot, and the building that serves as H.Q for the soldiers was wonderfully eerie. There are one or two cliches included imo but they do not detract from what is a damn good ghost story. |

agreed! Despite the cliche-ish characters, i enjoyed this movie on all levels. This just proves that sometime letting your imagination play is far scarier than any ghouls or goblins. |

I recommend this one very much. It was highly entertaining. Creepy but funny. Great location, too. I loved that impressive old ruin in the middle of nowhere.
Also think it works well as a war movie and a horror movie at the same time, whithout using the war only as part of the setting. It's a lot more thoughtful than I expected it to be. |
