Synopsis: A psychological horror-suspense film rooted in reincarnation that centers around several people who find themselves haunted by ghosts. Meanwhile, film director Ikuo Matsumara is holding auditions--prepping to make a movie about a 1970 murder spree at a hotel north of Tokyo; the killer being a professor who murdered his wife, several hotel guests and his young daughter, Chisato. To her surprise and trepidation, a curious ingenue, Nagisa Sugiura, lands a role in Ikuo's dark film. She is cast as the murderer's daughter, Chisato, which has been rewritten to accommodate the fact that Nagisa is a grown woman. Nagisa, however, soon begins to experience the 1970s murders as if they were happening around her, at an alarming rate.

I have to say, this is one of my favorites. I enjoy things from this director, and I, uh...may or may not have a thing for Oguri Shun. *hangs head in shame* Anyway, I saw this during Horrorfest and it was the only one I genuinely enjoyed. It's creepy and clever and I totally think everyone should watch it. Now.

I had an issue with that movie because I had a story that was similar. I wasn't going to watch it at first, but then we ran out of movies to rent. I didn't mind it so much, but the ending...eh. I'm glad I didn't spend money on it.

I need to buy Reincarnation. I'm so lazy. And poor. Oh, this movie also gets my vote for having a Bolex as a prop.

I really liked Reincarnation,it wasn't truly scary, more unnerving and spooky.I liked the way the storyline unfolded,it really was cleverly executed and the ending was great. On the subject of the Horrorfest movies, while I havn't seen them all yet,I would rate Reincarnation the Best so far but I did quite like Wicked Little Things and The Abandoned also.

Aye, i would give it a 7 out of 10 simply because of the way the movie progressed and how the story was told. But i will agree that it was not very scary, except that little damn doll.

Trust me DP you have seen Wicked little things and this. That is all you need to see out of those movies.

Yeah that doll is pretty freaky!

So far out of the horrorfest movies I have seen ...

Reincarnation- Very good
Wicked Little Things-Good
The Abandoned-Good
Dark Ride-Average
Unrest-Poor
The Gravedancers-Poor

No i meant Takako Fuji, the lady who played Kayako. She had a small cameo in the movie!

I just watched this, and I really enjoyed it! It wasn't really scary, as many of you have said before me, but the plot was different from a lot of the Asian horror films I've seen so far, and I found that quite refreshing... especially after Apartment which, though entertaining, is really just a combination of cliches and tricks from it's many predecessors.

I really liked the effects in this movie, and I thought the direction was excellent as well. It's interesting to watch a movie about a movie, if you know what I mean. It wasn't until after the film that I realized Takashi Shimizu (Ju-On, The Grudge, etc.) had directed it, though looking back I can totally recognize it now. I also didn't recognize Kayako until afterwards... shame on me!

Watch this film if you haven't already. I've intentionally left my little review free of spoilers to encourage you to do so. I rate this Highly Recommended for it's refreshing storyline and excellent direction and effects.

8/10 (I'm a bit generous towards Horror films usually, as they're my fav)

hello. I just watched this movie and I was surprised it turn out to be good. At first I thought it would be dull and boring, but as I watched mor of the movie it caught my interest. I thought the ending very strnge though lol. But other then that it was still a good movie. I would tell people to check out this movie. I loved the story line. I also love the Grudge and One Missed Call movies.

I agree with you all. This is a recommendable movie. Nicely done, suspenseful, story turns out better than you'd think. Nice one.

i found this movie to be off centered, and i liked the idea of life after death. but, i wish someone could tell me the meaning behind the long hair and the creeping, in all of the j horror films?, i don't get it ! is it something to do with culture and or death? let me know. [/i]
