This is a highly entertaining film! If you watch this, don't judge it too soon. It's a bit legthy at two hours, but if you watch it all the way through I think you'll find it to be very enjoyable and worth the time!
The key is not to take it too seriously. A lot of this film is a comedy/parody on other films/genres. The story still kicks ass though, and the style and action are rather brilliant I found.
Here you have a great combination of zombies, yakuza, martial arts, and the classic Good versus Evil struggle. It sounds like a bit too much to jam into one movie, but it's all really well done and doesn't feel cluttered or rushed. The frequent comic scenes and lines really help to lighten the mood and keep you from getting too serious about the film. The ending is rather interesting as well, and though it doesn't really require much analysis (at least for me) it still has a good twist.
Enjoy! |
